DMRC Accident ! New Accident At Delhi Metro Site ! Dmrc Accident

Three cranes have crashed trying to lift a collapsed steel girder at the Delhi metro rail construction site, a day after a deadly accident there.

The truck-mounted cranes had lifted the girder off the ground when they buckled under the weight.

Nobody was injured but television footage showed people at the site running away to avoid the debris.

There are fears that safety standards are being compromised in the rush to build new lines, correspondents say.

There is pressure to upgrade Delhi's metro before next year's Commonwealth Games

On Sunday, a pillar supporting a partly-built bridge collapsed killing six.

The men who died were reported to be labourers working on the bridge, part of the city's new prestigious metro system.

International Award for Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) Scientist

Coimbatore: V. Saravanakumar, Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, has won the award for the “Best Research Paper” in Sri Lanka recently.

According to a university release, Mr. Saravanakumar received the award from Vice-Chancellor Harishchandra Abeygunawardena, at the international conference held at the Post-Graduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.

His research paper titled “A Pricing Model for Milk-based on Cost Production” was adjudged the best in the category of agricultural economics and extension.

It proposed that the pricing of milk was to be determined based on the cost of production rather than on the existing dual axis pricing policy.

His research findings are expected to increase milk production, per capita milk availability and nutritional security in developing countries.

Marathi Actor Nilu Phule ! Nilu Phule Dead ! Nilu Phule Passes Away

Pune: Noted Marathi film and stage actor Nilu Phule passed away at a hospital here today. He was 80.

Phule was suffering from cancer of the oesophagus and was admitted to the hospital on July 5.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter.

A versatile artiste, Phule had acted in around 130 films, including some Hindi movies, and a number of Marathi plays.

Drop Dead Diva (Lifetime): Series Premiere. A shallow wannabe model dies and gets herself sent back, but she doesn’t end up in the same body. She finds herself in the body of a plus-sized attorney and must learn to deal with it. Plays again later. I was surprised by how much I liked this show. Once you get past the initial contrivance of how the body swap takes place, it turns into a thoroughly enjoyable mash-up of comedy and drama in a legal show setting. Brooke Elliot is really quite good in the role of size-two model stuck inside a plus-sized attorney.

Hung (HBO): New. A former colleague of Tanya agrees to help Ray with a practice run. Plays again later. The premiere episode was better than I thought it would be, so will give it a couple more episodes to see where it goes.

Entourage (HBO): Season Premiere. Vince is set to take his driving test and is preparing to appear with Jay Leno to promote his new movie. Lloyd gives Ari and ultimatum. Plays again later.
