Patrick Cudahy Fire, View Pictures (Photos)

150 firefighters spent late Sunday and most of Monday morning battling a stubborn fire at the Patrick Cudahy meat packing plant which has grown to a five-alarm fire.

Cudahy Mayor Ryan McCue has given a mandatory evacuation order, telling people living within one mile of the plant to evacuate from their homes because there are low levels of ammonia seeping into the air.

The affected area of the evacuation includes Lake Drive, Pennsylvania Avenue, Lunham Avenue and Ramsey Avenue. Officers are going door-to-door to find people who need to evacuate.

Firefighters from several area fire departments are on the scene of a fire at Patrick Cudahy, 1 Sweet Applewood Lane, in Cudahy. Various reports suggest the fire broke out shortly after 10pm Sunday.
